Plot Summary- Katie Carr wants to be a good person, but she just had an affair and told her husband that she wants to end their marriage. Her husband though encounters this crazy spiritual healer and starts to turn his life around, even trying to convince people to take homeless teens into their homes and give up extra computers and what-not. Katie is not so sure that she was ready for her husband to be "good" nor is she sure that she wants to be "good."
What I liked- Nick Hornby has this way of making you feel less bad about your life because the situation of his characters is often so pathetic. I liked how Katie was constantly trying to convince herself that she was a good person because she was a doctor and she helped people, but at the same time she would fight with her husband and swear in front of her children. It raises an interesting point about how we see ourselves in terms of good and bad.
What I didn't like- He couldn't have named it something that didn't sound like a self-help book?! Also, I like my characters flawed, but most of the time I found Katie downright obnoxious and DJ Goodnews just WHAT?!
